Deloitte
Deloitte

Alexander consulted with Deloitte as a lead business analyst. He established their Robotic Process Automation practice and governance and advised their clients in the finance and insurance industries on the embarkation of their own automation journeys. This led him to travel across the country, as far as Edinburgh in the north.
 

At a glance:

  • led education and discovery workshops,

  • performed 'As is' & 'To Be' process mapping,

  • created process definition, and solution design documents,

  • trained a team of junior Business Analysts,

  • built the business case for automation,

  • assisted a Mifid 2 regulatory project where he led the gap analysis and built the test UAT scenarios end-to-end.

Wanting a challenge and more experience with Agile methodology, Alexander took on both Agile Product Manager and Scrum Master roles at Broadridge Financial in London. Here, Alexander built and led global agile teams (pods) with members from the USA, Hungary and India, to enhance their global post-trade management system with new features.

  • Coached Scrum principles and ideology and led Scrum ceremonies.

  • Championed and launched the end-to-end migration of the Product Group’s Epics, Features, and Stories to Jira platform.

  • Revamped, expanded, and maintained a detailed Jira pipeline.

  • Created supporting documents, scenarios, user stories and test scripts

  • Product pods increased their Jira story completion by 240%

NHS BSA

Having extensive experience in the private sector, Alexander joined a large scale Automation Discovery within NHS UK as a Lead Business Analyst and Discovery Lead. It was a huge commission, to analyse up to 100 processes across 10 departments, in 2 months, traveling across the UK to offices in London, Newcastle, Sheffield, and Blackpool.

  • Led the Automation Discovery phase,

  • Trained 2 junior RPA business analysts,

  • Assessed 71 processes in total,

  • Completed all assessments within one month - 4 weeks ahead of schedule,

  • Potential of £14m net saving over 3 years,

  • 160 FTE given back to the business annually.

UBS
UBS

Headhunted by UBS, this was primarily a remote role. Alexander headed up Digital Finance’s Robotic Process Automation (RPA) function as a lead business analyst, leading internal process improvement projects with global teams from the USA, India, Europe and Asia, spanning multiple departments (Risk, Audit, HR, IT) within the UBS Group Finance division.
 

At a glance:

  • Used Lean and Six Sigma principles to optimise the time to perform an onboarding process from 31days to just 2 - a 93% improvement & over £2.3m annual saving.

  • Overhauled Group Finance’s RPA Opportunity Assessment phase, cutting months off of RPA project delivery times.

  • Undertook numerous POCs to assess the benefits of RPA, computer vision, natural language generation (NLG), and natural language processing (NLP) technologies.

  • Assessed the viability of 180 robots, terminated 18.

  • Introduced new governance for robot maintenance.

  • Resolved a global divide between Business and IT departments by creating a global automation education and release management initiative.

  • Fundamentally improved the RPA CoE at UBS, gaining acceptance of RPA across Finance IT, which prevented unnecessary robot failures (16 robots in first month) and gave the support team 6x longer advanced warning of potential failures.
